Knits and Leather

{Sweater and Leather Shorts: Forever21}
Here is a snapshot of a recent purchase. The leather shorts are so hot this season, its ridiculous. At that price, I'd be crazy not to buy them! Plus, they are perfect for a last minute costume for tonight...any guess as to what I'm going to be?
This sweater is quite possibly the perfect coverup for Winter...stripes? Sweet! Warm? Oh yeah! Oversized? Totally! Don't be surprised if you catch me sporting this knit way before the weather even cools down- it's that addicting!
What are you dressing up as this Halloween? Can't wait to see everyone's crazy and unique costumes! Happy Halloween!

Black Out

{Acne Fle Cuts 2 Skinny Jeans}

{ASOS Lace Up Knee Biker Skinny Jeans}

{Charley 5.0 3 Way Zip Denim Leggings}

{Forever21 Knit Panel Jeggings}

{Rich & Skinny Legacy Zip Legging}

{Superfine Leather Super Swirl Jeans}
We see them everywhere and they have definitely become our go-to jeans- models, editors, designers, stylists and everyday fashionistas are turing to their skinny black jeans. There is no doubt about it, the black skinny has become the new "it" jean.

I've come up with a few of my top favs for the season. Let's be real, you can never have too many jeans, too many skinny jeans or too many black garments! I guess that's what makes these pants our closet staple- they are the perfect combination of all things we love. A simple skinny jean is great, but I have really had my eye on details this season so why stop at my jeans? I am absolutely obsessed with the leather/denim combo and these Superfine Super Swirl Jeans make my heart swoon. The lace-up detail on the ASOS pair is amazing too!

What is your go-to jean style this season?

Drool Worthy

{Vogue Spain November 2010}
Seriously obsessed with this Vogue Spain November 2010 editorial. The sequins, leather, lace and all over rock appeal of these pictures is totally catching my eye right now. On my wish list: The white dinner jacket, studded leather jacket, sequined pants, lace tights and striped sweater. Let's be real, I'll take everything!

On a more serious note, I have been looking everywhere for the perfect pair of lace leggings and haven't had any luck. If anyone knows where I can find a great pair, I would love to hear it! Just leave a note in the comments section below.

What are you guys lusting over for Fall/Winter?

Apple Picking

{Jeans: Rich and Skinny; Top: Forever21; Jacket: Costco (!); Boots: Zara, Scarf: H&M}
Well, there seems to be a trend developing at Trinkets and Trends this week: Apples.

On Sunday, I got the opportunity to go on my first apple picking adventure in Julian, CA. Wow, what an amazing time! It was so nice to get out of LA and be in the mountains, despite the cold weather. We picked about 70lbs (ok, so we might have got a little carried away...) of apples so needless to say, there will be more apples in my future- think pies, cider and muffins.

I wore my new Rich and Skinny Make Peace Cargos to the event and I'm so glad I did! Not only is the dark olive color spot on for Fall, but I totally looked like I belonged in those mountains! These pants are so comfortable too- they are definitely jeans, but much softer and a little bit lighter than your typical denim. I decided to wear these cargos with my Zara boots, but don't be afraid to dress them up with a fun button up, killer heels and some neutral accessories for dinner or a night out. These jeans definitely know no boundaries- the reason why I love them so much!

If you have the opportunity to go apple picking, go! It was a great experience and I feel so good knowing where my food came from and that I picked it- something that is hard to acheive these days. Apple pie recipes and pics coming soon!

Apple'd out yet? I think I'm on the verge...

Simplest Apple Tart

{Simplest Apple Tart}
What better way to bring in Fall then with some Golden Delicious apples?

I decided to bake an apple tart for a family dinner I went to yesterday and boy oh boy was this yummo! I'm not going to lie, I was extremely intimidated when I realized that I had to make my own dough for this dish and was this close to tossing the whole tart out the window when I realized that I had to suck it up and just go for it! The title is spot on- this tart was so simple to make, just make sure you allot yourself plenty of time to let the tart cook in the oven- I did not and had to finish cooking it at our friends' house!

The original recipe (from Smitten Kitchen) was great, however I think I would have added a bit of citrus (lemon) to the apples before I placed them on the tart crust to bake as the final dish needed a little je ne sais pas.

I am definitely a newbie when it comes to the kitchen, but I think this turned out really well given the time crunch and my lack of experience. As you can tell, everyone at the dinner hated it and barely ate any....

Go ahead, get in the kitchen and give this tart a go! You'll be pleasantly surprised I think.

Miu Miu

{Miu Miu}

I have been known to get jittery, flustered, short of breath and display other symptoms that are usually experienced on a first date, during a public speech or the first day of school for an item of clothing- purses, jeans, coats, etc. Well, these shoes get my heart going more than any other article of clothing has in a while.
Honestly, if I could, I would settle down with these shoes. Ok, I think I'm going a bit over board, but you get my drift...

I love the random assortment of prints that come on the shoes. Each print evokes a different sense of style and drastically changes an outfit. To make these shoes even more dangerous to my wallet, they are a classic style and have the potential to be worn for years to come!

Oy vey.

Hot Cheesy Mushroom Dip and Guac

{Hot Cheesy Mushroom Dip and Guacamole}
What a random assortment of dishes right? Well, I suppose the random weather is to blame...

Due to the rain and cold weather that has hit California these past few days, I needed a bit of comfort food to get me through the day. This mushroom dip was perfect- the flavors of mushroom, caramalized onion and white wine were AMAZING! Honestly, I could have stopped right there and chowed down on those three ingredients alone! Besides the mushroom dip, there is nothing better (at least to me) then good old fashioned guacamole and tortilla chips. I was definitely stuffed before we even sat down for the mushroom dip as I had been noshing on the chips and guac while cooking...oops.

I bought the produce for the dishes at an incredible market called Grower's Direct. Seriously, I don't know much about this place but, if you live near one, you need to start shopping here. Everything at GD is so fresh and cheap- it's the perfect storm of produce, if you will.

Thinking about making some Hot Cheesy Mushroom Dip? Check the recipe out here!

Monday Muse: Gillian Zinser

{Gillian Zinser}
Whether you watch 90210 or not, Gillian Zinser is one to keep your eye on. Along with developing her acting career, Zinser has established herself as a fashionista to be reckoned with. Her latest red carpet appearances have definitely put her on my radar...

This girl can pull off the bohochic look so well! I am loving her leopard harem pants and the maxi dresses she seemingly lives in these days. On top of it all, this girl is a natural beauty and lets her clothes do all the talking- love it! What do you guys think? Is Gillian a style muse you'll be following?

Cheap Chic

Forever21
Um, is it just me or has Forever21 created some hot footwear for Fall? I saw a few of these puppies as I was wandering the store sometime last week and can not stop thinking about how right on point their shoes are for the season. Kind of kicking myself for not buying some of these earlier...

Swap For Good

{Swap For Good}

It's as easy as their slogan says: Swap Stuff. Save Lifes.

Swap For Good is a nonprofit organization that raises money and awareness for domestic violence shelters. In order to raise money, they have come up with a great idea- swap clothes (or tools, toys, etc) that you don't want anymore for goodies that you do want and donate some money that you saved on your new outfit to a local domestic violence shelter. Think of it as flea marketing for a good cause!

Interested in participating in a swap near you? Want to host your own swap party? Check out Swap For Good for more information.

Paris Fashion Week

{Dries Van Noten}

{Louis Vuitton}

{John Galliano}

{Fendi}
Refinery29 featured their top 10 looks from Paris Fashion Week and here are a few of my faves. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of extremes this coming Spring- from crazy colors and prints to a carry over of this season's minimalist look. Not going to lie, I'm pretty excited for the colors and prints to hit my closet. I've never been confident enough to try em out but, I have a feeling this year is going to be different! Throw all your fashion fears out the window baby- embrace it!

Venice Beach

{Shirt: Target; Jeans: Gifted Rich and Skinny; Shoes: Jessica Simpson; Clutch: Cole Haan; Sunglasses: Vintage}
This week has been so amazing! You know when you can't put your finger on any one event in particular but, rather on a series of events that have just made the week that much better than the previous one? Well, I experienced that this week. With the arrival of my new shoes (as shown above), a care package from Rich and Skinny, a great buy from Target, some amazing business opportunities and a positive outlook on life, I've been been a pretty happy camper lately.

My jeans arrived on Tuesday and I have been living in them ever since! These Cargo Leggings in Neptune are a must have- the wash goes with everything, the cargo details are right on point for the military trend this season and they're long enough for my 5'11" frame- match made in heaven. Don't be surprised if you see me rocking these with my combat boots, button up and/or cozy sweater later this season.

I had a lunch meeting in Venice Beach this afternoon but showed up a bit early to wander the boardwalk as I had never been down there before!I must have died and gone to heaven when I got down there- between the fantastic people watching, street vendors and unique street art, I was definitely in sensory overload. Here are some pics that I snapped while wandering about. I would love to go back with a nicer camera and a wee bit more time and capture some of the unique scenes the boardwalk has to offer. Anyone know of any good eateries, stores or places to check out next time I'm in the Venice neighborhood?
