Blueberry Peach Crisp

It's about that time of year where we're in between seasons- its still warm enough to rock your summer clothes but the days are getting shorter and the summer fruits and veggies just aren't what they used to be a few weeks ago...
Yesterday, I took advantage of some of the last summer fruits and made this yummy Blueberry Peach Crisp! I will definitely make this recipe again but, with a few alterations. Overall though, I think the crisp turned out really well! As for the difficulty, this recipe is so simple and easy-perfect for any new baker!

Holy Colored Pencils

Wa wa wee wa, these are amazing!

Jennifer Maestre, a Michigan-based artist, has been creating sculptures out of colored pencils since 1999 and doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. These unique masterpieces are sold exclusively through Mobilia Gallery in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

I'm still in awe...how do you come up with something like that?

Too Funny

{All images Fred Flare}

Really? I'm thinking these are a great investment...even if just for the conversations they would start.

These giant earbud speakers from Fred Flare are so creative. Perfect for any desk, table or even your office cubicle, these puppies are sure to get the party started. The price isn't bad either- I would totally pay $60 for my own set of oversized headphones.

What do you think?

Sewn News

{www.theexpertsagree.com}

{www.jackfischergallery.com}
Wow, who would have thought to turn the newspaper into art?

Lauren DiCioccio is inspired by the print news and uses it to portray the periodical as another genre of art and creativity. By emobroidering over a powerful newspaper image, DiCioccio provides a completely new way to look at and read our daily news. Definitely makes me look twice at a paper now.

If you find an image you find captivating in your paper, try playing with it and creating something all your own. DiCioccio's current work inlcudes images from the New York Times...get inspired!

Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band

Hollywood Bowl at sunset
I was lucky enough to go see Dave Matthews on tour last night at the Hollywood Bowl. Needless to say, it was a great concert! I've seen DMB live three times now and they have yet to let me down. Between the music, the company and the craziness that is Dave Matthews made the concert amazing and totally worth every penny!

My sister and I totally lucked out with box seats in the 2nd row meaning we were right there in the thick of things. Oh, hey Dave!

The jam sessions that ensued throughout the two and a half hour concert were almost as good as listening to the band play classics like Crash Into Me, You and Me and Ants Marching. The opening act, Raphael Saadiq, was refreshingly entertaining as well. I'm definitely about to download some of his tunes- think Motown meets funk mixed in with some R&B. There's no way you'll stay seated for long after hearing him jam.

So sad Dave won't be touring next summer...just going to have to pretend I'm sitting in my 2nd row box at Hollywood Bowl everytime I listen to DMB.

Smitten Kitchen

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a total food junkie. What can I say? A girl has to eat, right?
My favorite food blog that I check out daily is Smitten Kitchen. Beware: Visit this site once and you may notice your clothes getting a bit tighter from all these amazing recipes!
From the Zuchinni and Ricotta Galette to the Nectarine Brown Butter Buckle you are bound to find some food inspiration from Deb, a freelance writer and photographer. Don't be intimidated by some of the complex titles...maybe take it slow and start off with the Everyday Chocolate Cake or Sweet Corn Pancakes.
Is your mouth watering yet?

Pop Watch

{http://bangkoksmiths.com/}
Just because Fall is rolling around doesn't mean you need to put your bright colors away! Um, hello?!?! Who doesn't love a little bit of color? These neon watches are just what you need to add a little somethin' somethin' to your otherwise colorless winter days.
These cool rubber watches from Bangkok Smiths are so practical it's not even funny! At $28 a pop, you're going to have to try not to buy every color.
Durable? Check! Fun? Check! Affordable? Check!
To add to the lust factor, Bangkok Smiths has some amazing jewelry pieces that will give your wrist watch a look all your own. Try layering their bracelets and cuffs onto your watch wrist or rocking their funky statement earrings. Personally, I think the Paclady earrings are too cute to pass up.

Reuse Recycle Raeburn

{All Images www.treehugger.com
How seriously cool are these jackets and parkas? Christopher Raeburn debuted his line at London Fashion Week's Estethica show in February and has become a hit- both in his native England and across the pond in The States. Raeburn has taken ethical fashion to a whole other level by creating garments out of old (but never used) military stock such as parachute fabric, camouflage textiles and numerous other decommissioned military materials. On top of being environmentally friendly, these coats will keep you warm and super stylish for fall and winter. The Swedish Wool Bomber might just be making an appearance in my closet pretty soon!

Knitty Gritty

{Joie Maisy Space Dye Cardigan}
Even though it feels like summer started yesterday, there is no denying that fall is just around the corner....which means we can start lusting over statement knits like those above. It's been getting a bit cool in LA at night so don't be shy to bust the sweaters out early...then layer them for daytime looks come September ala Rag and Bone's Fall 2010 runway show. I'm in love with the Stefanel number above. A girl can dream right?

Monday Muse: Low Luv

Low Luv by Erin Wasson
I've developed a major crush on Erin Wasson for obvious reasons...honestly, what's not to love? She has collaborated with RVCA, created her own jewelery collection {Low Luv} and has been featured in numerous international campaigns and fashion shows. Through it all, it seems as if she has maintained her down to earth mentality and channeled her creativity into great business opportunities. Again, what's not to love?

Refinery29 was lucky enough to catch up with Wasson for her Low Luv debut and ask her a few questions regarding her inspiration, style and  RVCA collaboration. You can check out her new line at Shopbop. I'm loving the Armor Knuckle Ring, Snake Hinged Cuff and Aztec Finger Ring...can't wait to get my hands on some of those!

You're Beautiful

Just discovered this movement today and am a little bit upset that it took me this long to hear about it. Operation Beautiful is an ongoing project in which individuals post anonymous messages around their community reminding everyone they are beautiful in their own right! What a cool idea! Who doesn't love seeing inspirational messages throughout their day? So, get out there and post a message in your neighborhood...I know I will!

Daydreaming

Moroccan Market Image

Free People August Catalog
DIY Necklaces/Belts
(Images: Discoveryadventures.com; Free People; Fashion Gone Rogue)

I have been obsessing over Marrakesh goodies lately and have decided Morocco is the next destination on my travel wish list. Free People channeled the Moroccan vibes in their August catalog as well- with the vibrant colors, camels and gypsy-esque finishing touches. I need to add a few Marrakesh items to my closet pronto! I think I'm going to make some of these necklaces/belts to add this amazing color palette to my everyday life.

Even more, these girls are in the know of so many other great blogs that I have found myself following daily as well. What are you waiting for? Go check it out!
